Baptisms
If you are a PHPC member with an infant or young child who has not been baptized, we encourage you to partake in registering your infant or child for baptism.
Baptisms are usually scheduled on the fourth Sunday of the month and for the baptismal family convenience, the officiating pastor will officiate baptisms at either our 9:30 or 11 a.m. services. Please make reservations via email to Veronica Smoot at least six weeks prior to the requested baptism date to allow for necessary approvals and publications.
The officiating pastors are on a rotating monthly schedule; to have a specific minister baptize your child, we encourage you to ask when a particular minister is scheduled to officiate.
If you are a non-member and want your infant or child to be baptized: PHPC follows the PC(USA) Book of Order in that at least one parent must be an active member of the congregation. However, you may schedule a baptism for an infant or child as a non-member who is planning to complete the New Member Class prior to the date of the baptism.
For more information about when our New Member Classes are held or how to join, please visit our How to Join page.
Please email your baptism requests and any questions to Veronica Smoot at vsmoot@phpc.org or 214-368-6348, ext. 133.

Our Baptismal Font
Our baptismal font, which the Memorial Committee was most gracious to authorize memorial funds for, was hand blown by glass artist George C. Scott in his Seattle, Washington studio. The design, containing bubbles and swirling white glass, reminds us of the first mention of God’s life-giving Spirit moving over the unformed waters in the creation (Genesis 1:2). Our prayer is that the use of this new font will welcome new generations of the faithful to Christ’s body at PHPC, and remind us all of God’s love and creative work in our own baptism.
