VMLC
VMLC is PHPC's flagship mission. It was founded in 1997 by the members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church to address the critical need for English literacy classes for non-English-speaking adults in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas. VMLC is dedicated to improving English literacy levels among non-English speaking adults and children by providing programs in communication and life skills. Tutors are needed for the adult and early childhood education programs. Find out more about VMLC by visiting www.vmlc.org or view this video. 

Vickery Meadow Learning Center Adult English Classes
Volunteers are needed to teach English to adults at VMLC this summer.  No teaching experience or second language is required. To learn more about these specific opportunities, click here. For more information email Leala Rosen at lrosen@vmlc.org or visit www.VMLC.org. 

McShan Elementary
McShan Elementary is a DISD school located within five miles of PHPC in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood. Many of the students are refugees and almost all of them have limited financial means. In fact, 98% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and 74% of them have limited English skills. PHPC helps McShan in a variety of ways, but mostly by providing volunteer tutors. 

EQUIP and Interfaith Housing Coalition
This program strives to be the hands of Christ to homeless families by providing traditional rather than barracks-style housing, training, and support services to both parents and children. Through 6-12 month programs, families get to live in an apartment, learn how to budget, establish a savings account, and working on finding, getting, and keeping a job. As one of the founding congregations, PHPC provides volunteers to help mentor residents on budget and employment and to provide tutoring and lessons to children.

Good Shepherd Community Center
The Good Shepherd Community Center is an outreach ministry of Grace Presbytery. It provides affordable and nurturing childcare at a reduced rate. Tuition at Good Shepherd is approximately one-half of the average rate of for-profit daycare centers. When PHPC learned that the preschool teachers at Good Shepherd Community Center never had a break during the day, we began a program to help them. You can volunteer either in the classroom or in their office. 

North Dallas Shared Ministries
NDSM provides emergency food, a free medical clinic two evenings a week, a clothes closet with free or inexpensive clothing, and ESL classes to disenfranchised people in our area. Their needs range from teacher, food pantry or clothes-closet worker, medical clinic assistant, to interviewer or computer and files specialist. PHPC collects food the first Sunday of every month for NDSM’s emergency food supply.

Grace Presbyterian Village
Grace Presbyterian Village provides a high-quality environment for retirees. Volunteers are needed to assist with retirees' gardens, to provide hospitality, to create and host special events, to provide transportation, and to help maintain the beauty of the campus.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels delivers more than 3,000 meals daily, Monday through Friday, every week of the year. PHPC currently sponsors six routes. Each route needs a team of about 10 volunteer drivers, who deliver in pairs, and four substitute drivers. You know how wonderful a good hot meal is, and how much better it is when it comes with a friendly smile.

Mi Escuelita
Mi Escuelita offers a language-based early childhood program to serve low-income, at-risk children. They also prepare parents for their children’s mainstream schooling. English and early learning skills are developed to pave the way for a successful school experience.

Presbyterian Children's Homes & Services
In 1903, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) was founded in Dallas, TX. Today, it provides Christ-centered care and support to 3,400 children and families in need annually through 7 core programs (Group Homes, Foster Care, Adoption, Education, Child and Family, Single Parent Family and Transitional Living) in 21 Texas communities. The Stewpot / The Bridge
Homelessness continues to grow in Dallas. In May 2008, The Stewpot became the partner agency for meal services at The Bridge Homeless Assistance Center, just three blocks south of The Stewpot. Volunteers dish up a delicious nutritious meal prepared by The Second Chance Café kitchen staff and pour beverages for guests once they are seated. PHPC serves lunch on a regular basis.
