Rev. Sarah Johnson

Rev. Sarah Johnson grew up in North Carolina, and graduated from Furman University in Greenville, SC in 2005, with a major in Religion. She acquired her Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary where she received the John T. Galloway preaching award in expository preaching. In addition to her regular academic work, Sarah concentrated a portion of her studies in Muslim-Christian relationships, traveling with a small group of students to the Sultanate of Oman over the summer of 2007. Sarah’s Clinical Pastoral Education training was focused in underserved communities struggling with mental illness, and spent a summer as a Chaplain at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital in Trenton, N.J.  Sarah was ordained into the Presbyterian Church (USA) by the Presbytery of Chicago in July of 2009.

Prior to joining the staff at Preston Hollow in August of 2013, Rev. Johnson began her full time ministry as a Lilly Pastoral Resident at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago, before transitioning to Minister for Congregational at Fourth Church where she served for an additional year. Following her time at Fourth Church in Chicago, Sarah served as the Associate Pastor for Christian Formation and Congregational Care at Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, AZ. During her time in Scottsdale and Chicago, Sarah focused much of ministry on leadership and vision in the area of Congregational Care, specifically in coordination of pastoral care in multi-staff settings, strategic thinking related to ministries of the board of deacons, and nurturing the spiritual lives of families with young children.

Sarah has served in a variety of capacities in service to the wider Presbyterian denomination and continues to engage her interest in overall organizational leadership in the church.
