Rev. Margaret Watkins
Rev. Watkins and her husband Jim have been members of PHPC for 20 years. She felt the call to ministry in her twenties, and years later, after careers in tax law and school administration, she was able to fulfill that call by attending seminary at Perkins at SMU. She was ordained to chaplaincy and has been a chaplain at Children's Hospital, Zale Lipshey, Presbyterian/Texas Health Resources and Presbyterian Village North. "I am thankful to have had experiences in pastoral care and my prayer is that I may know and respond to the pastoral needs of our congregation," she says.
"I believe that Congregational Care involves joy as well as concern, and I am overjoyed to think of spending time with this church that I love, as we seek to find the pastor God will send to us to be our Associate Minister for Congregational Care."
At Preston Hollow, Margaret’s responsibilities focus on guiding and coordinating the work of the Congregational Care department, including the Board of Deacons and their ministries, Stephen Ministry, Divorce Care, Divorce Care for Kids, Epiphany Adults Special Needs Ministry, Grief Care ministries, and a variety of other care related programs.
The Watkins have three daughters, all confirmed at PHPC, and five grandchildren. Her daughter Chafen Hart is a pediatrician, mother of three, and worships at PHPC. She is married to Eric Hart ,Head of Customer Assistance, Mortgage Banking at JPMorgan Chase. Reverend Louisa Umphres, mother of two, is an Associate Pastor at Lakeside Presbyterian in Cincinnati. She is married to Will Umphres, a Professor of Political Theory at the University of Cincinnati.
